Last 05 of July of 2013, D. Juan Francisco Miñambres Redondo, defended his PhD entitled "Study of the Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley reduction of crotonaldehyde over modified zirconium oxides: activity and deactivation", marked with 'SOBRESALIENTE CUM LAUDE'. SUPERVISORS Dr. Francisco J. Urbano Navarro Dr. José Maria Marinas Rubio ABSTRACT The chemoselective reduction of crotonaldehyde to crotyl alcohol by hydrogen transfer from propan-2-ol over ZrO2 based catalysts was studied. Catalyst Bronsted acid sites were found to be responsible for the activity while strong Lewis acid sites seemed to cause the deactivation of the solids. | |
