Sustainable Organic Chemistry at UCO.
The utility of chemistry for the environmental sustainability is unquestionable. The possibilities that this branch of science offers to solve some of the most pressing issues, are based on the scientific activity of numerous international research teams.
The use of catalysis for the production of chemicals is almost as old as Chemistry itself. Monitoring processes, choosing the best catalysts and optimize reaction conditions are essential steps to more than 90% of chemical processes. The challenge today is, however, to be able to develop these processes without generating waste and consuming as little energy as possible.
The Sustainable Organic Chemistry research group works at the University of Cordoba and it is integrated within the PAIDI Group FQM-162 of the Junta de Andalucía. It holds open several lines of research focused on the use of solid catalysts in the development of sustainable organic processes.
